Science/Concept Table: Sort transportation models or pictures according to air, water or land
Building Blocks Area: Encourage children to construct a train or any transportation model out of blocks.
Creative/Art Center; Make boats out of styrofoam
Dramatic Play Area: Play car wash with tricycles and wagons. |
Kids who haven’t tried yet the other learning centers could be encouraged to explore them.
Additional Centers: Math/Manipulatives: seriation of different transportation models; counting of transportation models |

Sharing Time
9:30-9:45 |
Kids who built train or any transportation model out of blocks could display and show it to class. Encourage the kids to talk about the transportation models. |
Kids who were from Math/Manipulative Center could tell the class how many transportation models he/she has counted. |

Snacks

Outdoor play/Clean Up/Quiet Time

Use of wheeled toys like the bike, scooter, tricycle and wagon.
Children who want to stay in the quiet corner can play with manipulative toys like pieces of picture puzzles of different transportation models, memory game with different transportation pictures |
Play with boats made of styrofoam by children in the water area. |

Move like transportation vehicles, airplanes, boats and cars. |
Sing and act out the song "Row, Row, Row Your Boat." |

Trip to airport or train station or Mitsubishi Factory of mini-vans and trucks or have a train ride or see the inside of an airplane or have a trip to a gas station whichever is feasible. And accessible |
Use transportation models again and play the "What’s Missing?" guessing game. Discuss pictures of transportation vehicles that move on the ground, in the air, and across the water |
Have a parent drive an unusual vehicle (or any vehicle not yet familiar with the majority of the children) to school. Have him/her talk about his/her transportation vehicle. Let the children see the inside of that transportation model. |

Write an experience story/chart as small groups about a trip to the gas station. |
Make train from shoe boxes and paint in small groups.
Make collage of transportation pictures cut from magazines in small groups or in pairs or alone. |

Share experiences gained from the activity. Encourage children to express feelings about the trip. |
Share the experience story/chart to the class. |
Let the children talk about the train and the collage they have made. |
